Being kind, doing kind
I normally stay in the background, but the last week back here in my old stomping ground in London has given me much to reflect on, therefore much to share too.
Five summers ago, I decided to move back to India to work in the disability inclusion space inspired by what I had experienced living in the beautifully diverse and wonderfully inclusive London! Thanks largely to COVID-19, I have not spent any meaningful time back here, but this weekend traversing the city by public transport has in some way reconnected me to the source of that inspiration.
Inclusion is the result of a lot of major and minor tweaks to systems we operate within, driven by an inclusivity mindset – one that understands differences, and knows how to meaningfully co-exist in diversity. As we segue from #pride to #disabilitypride month, I was thrilled to see these posters sensitising on #invisibledisabilities all over @transportforlondon underground stations.
What are good examples of large scale public sensitization efforts that you have seen and left a mark on you?
